Meet the Speakers

Steve is an ordained minister and leads the team at Redeemer Church in Landsdale, Perth (CoCWA). He has also worked as a chaplain in the WA Government school system and is a registered clinical counsellor (CCAA & ACA). Steve loves the ongoing rewards and challenges of leadership, pastoral counselling and teaching. He lectures in pastoral theology and counselling and is in the process of pursuing further research (PhD) into the implications of inaugurated eschatology for professional counselling theory and practice.

Steve was born in Ecuador and grew up in Argentina as part of a missionary family. Prior to moving to Perth in 2022 he lived and taught in the United States (Seattle, WA; Pasadena, C4 ColumnA; Houston, TX). He loves the New Testament, and especially the Gospel of Luke, (“I have fallen in love with the God of the Gospel of Luke!”). His current areas of research are social identity in relation to the New Testament, and a missional reading of Scripture. He enjoys living creatures, especially dogs, and is quite taken by the Australian birds.

Janice is a registered counselor working with individuals and families, specializing in teen struggles, parent-child relationships, abuse, grief, and more. She journeys with those seeking help. Janice has been teaching and sharing her knowledge and experience with students for several years, utilising her expertise to support Counseling course students at PBC.

Becky finds great joy in supporting students through their journey at PBC, from the first enquiry meeting to the last exit interview. She completed a Master of Divinity in Seoul, South Korea, worked as a research assistant for the Practical Theology department at her alma mater, and served in church ministries in various capacities before moving to Perth via Exeter, UK.

Testimonials

My time at PBC was a transformative and life-changing one.

I have grown, became stronger in my faith, more confident in my belief,

and more rooted in the scripture after my time at PBC.

Kyla H. [Bachelor of Ministry]

What a highlight to be part of the Africa and Greece Missions trip while studying at PBC!

I have grown in understanding of the scripture, and am more equipped for the church ministry.

Elezirig K. [AdvDiploma of Ministry]

I tasted grace and embrace while studying at PBC.

I enjoyed working, studying, and rubbing shoulders with Christians

from many different traditions and backgrounds at PBC.

Tracey P. [Diploma of Ministry]

God brought friends, caring lecturers, and mentors who made me feel loved, supported, and

most of all, feel at home! I can’t express my gratitude towards one of the Counselling lecturers,

who supported me not just academically but in my personal walk with God as a mentor.
